Enemy Docking

Any idea's for Pulsar ? , post em here and Dziku might consider it

Enemy Docking

Postby Paul on Mon Dec 24, 2007 9:03 pm

Just thought of an idea

An annoying fact from Omricon was your enemys docking in your outpost ( It was a mixed blessing, very annoying when the owners inactive but cant believe your lucj when its your post ) . I was thinking about a "Lockdown Mode" for outposts . If the owner is going away for awhile he can activate the lockdown . Allies would be able to dock just fine but non allied and enemy players wont be permitted to dock ( Just like trying to dock at a station thats being raided ) . Add's some more security to the post and add's more value to the outposts

I'm not sure if outposts will be present in Pulsar. Generally, Outposts are complicated enough to make separate game just based on outposts.
Add outpost possibility of building ships, merging them into fleets and sending to raid other outposts :)

Lol Raid or Destroy  . Would be class if there was somethin like it but the closest ive found is Bulfleet ( Planet based ) . Send out the raid fleets but have different weaponry equiped to destroy some parts of the place for good . Some1 is making to much cash then destroy the productions to disrupt the supply lines ;)

actually i ahte that kind of game. No actual action And the Strategy thing is Kinda suckish no real strategy.

Outpost is a very important part of OMri and It shouldnt be removed

If u whant something to be done the right way doit urself

INstead of sending an imaginary fleet of urs to do the owkr gather some friends and Doit u adn them, Its fun i really like CO-OP, and the bullet fleet concept sucks.

Omri was great. u fight u ahve fun u raid u play with friends u accomplish stuff

And outpost gives u something to fight for protect and work for. I really liie the territory concept in games protecting Ur turf and fighting for more territory. Outpost are kinda like that.

OMRI is a very different game, its even way better than T.D.Z.K. (exept for the low Member count)

Omri was the game i was lookin for, it wasnt perfect but was fun, (i love to design my own warship instead of buying a premade one)

I dont whant nothing taken from it instead i whant stuff added.

besides if i wahnted to play something Bulletfleet like i would play bulletfleet

IF outpost to complicated make them less complicated but keep em

ANYBODY WITH ME? ANyBODY SHARES MY POINT AND DISLIKE OF WERE THE GAME MIGHT BE HEADING TO?

I'm not "taking out". Every single line of code in Pulsar is written from beginning, and game idea is only based on Omri.
I'm just not sure if I will want to implement outposts. i just do not like them

LoL ok so is it just ports we rest in or is there some other place we can rest in?
Also offtopic how many systems is there going to be (or galaxys depending on the scale) basicly how large is the game?

the thing about outposts is great when u can store item used for crafting... im not sure if u r going to keep that in but if u do, and u take out outpost its going to be really hard to make the upgrades that u want, and making enough of them for ur ship... i mean yeah outposts get kinda stupid after awhile when they are at like 6500/4000 and up... just kinda stupid and makes the game too boring. every alliance just sitting in their own fortress waiting for something...

also... when i first started playing omricon, carriers were the shit!!! i mean the could take on just about anything! but as rounds passd the carrier kinda frll from glory and smaller ships took the top... it would be awsome to see the bigger ships once again rule the top, b/c when ur a hunter and ur trying to go after people, little tiny thrust birds that have like 5000 thrust like sooooo many of us had, even with like 25-30 targeting, its just such a pain in the ass to maybe hit like with 1 round per salvo... idk what im really trying to fix here, id just like to see more bigger ships that can pack a punch instead of all this tiny little things

4 Galaxies, about 120 systems. Only central systems will be charted, so players will have to acquire maps na navigate.
Generally, Galaxy 1 central systems will be good for beginners, but only basic ships and upgrades will be there. Plus, there will be "bonuses" in far systems (better trade routes, better weapons, intersting NPC).

About scale. I suppose, there will about > 1000 NPC flying around, civilized systems will crawl with police force, there will be NPC interaction, bla bla bla

Every player will be able to buy cargo space in every port to store items and weapons.

Nice :P . I can see me taking a lawless region of space before breaking out when the times right :P

Findin prey is gonna be alot harder aswell with that many systems but its good as we have plenty of turf to fight over

I agree that small thrust ships where overpowered but remember they had weakness's . I designed a ship to destroy thrusters ( Codename Bahamut, ive still got the design . Never made her tho so the design is still untested ) but they where powerful ;) . Carriers did pawn sure but remember it depending on who shot first, that opening savlo was critical !

There is no way bigger ships will always remain better, i think Yamato and Bismarck learned that leason the hard way . Its up to the players mainly. Remember a ship is nothin until you design and upgrade it to whatever you need, then it becomes whatever you want . Large ships where still handy during the last rounds but no 1 could design 1 that was effective against all enemys, the closest was thrusters but even they couldnt attack some prey
