Jump drives

Jump drives

Well, whoever is interested (Dziku / Jezus), how about giving some strategic decision to your jump drive selection. So far in omricon it was only whether you had one or not, but what if there would be different types from which you could obviously only use one.
Examples:
- Galactic jump drives: a'la Omricon, jump to a system but random sector.
- System jump drives: a'la TDZK, for those not knowing, you can jump from any sector to any other sector but only within the current system.
- Inter-sector warp drive: this one allows you to jump from any sector to any other in the galaxy. Great isnt it? The catch is that only works in certain sector types . For example you can only use this to jump from any black hole sector to any other black hole. Of course its not necessary that all systems have one. :) Alternatively you can jump from any gate to any other.
- Galactic Highway: I always wanted to see this. There could be entry points for this set up in systems and you could simply jump from one entry point to another if you have the equipment to use it. For example from jump gates to stations or from one jump gate to another. This is NOT an open system, all entry points are connected to another and ONLY that one, much like system jump gates. System jump drive is better but this should cost a lot less turns to use.
- You creative people can think up more if you want. :)

Lalande will use frontier style jump drivers with the exception of fuel usage which wont be there

-Each system will be "physicly" present in the galaxy map.
-Each will be given a unique spot in it.
-Users will freely jump between them BUT they must keep in mind that each and every warp drive has a limited range.
-The range is limited by the drives power/ship mass(size) ratio.
-If you underpower your drive(mount a too small one) u will have tiny range. -If you mount a too powerful u might not be able to meet its needs for power ;)
-Warp drive will use significant power while used, thus in many cases power should be diverted from other subsystems first. In other words you might be sometimes forced to turn off your regular drive/thrusters/shields/sensors/whatever you feel will be safer/fastest/whatever ;) to boost up the power reserve and then use the warp drive. Usually that will affect a multude of trading vessels and almost all combat vesseles, so jumping during fight will be a tricky process

Right, so youll use the third one. But the question is: who cares?

THIS IS MY THREAD!

Hmm, wait. I might go and spam your forums to revenge your hijacking attempt. :P

personally i think we should just be able to set a course then enable jump drive to that exact location. And keep it at that.

personally, if jump drives are put in, i want a low turn cost but a high power usage cost, but thats just me.
