[NEW] Omricon Remake

Hey :D ,

Heres the basic idea,

:arrow: New Mapeditor, it will be going public, and we will have a mini competition with the maps, if of corse, there is enough support for the idea.

:arrow: I said in my previous thread that it will be an offline game, i have decided that it MUST be online. However, i do not have enough money
for a server, therefore, i will have to make the game peer to peer. Its no problem, apart from the fact im going to have to add extra security to prevent tampering :wink: and it means no outposts :evil:

:arrow: Going to use my own GUI system. So it should be flexible

:arrow: I am going to make two game modes

:arrow: Campaign > Take the universe system by system, offline version, no turns

:arrow: Multiplayer > online mode, normal omri, but different 8)

We like it simple yet effective 8)

Guess we will be able to add Nebula's, Stations ect to these maps aswell ?. Ive got afew inmind to really create some chaos :twisted:, any chance of assigning NPC's to these custom maps aswell ?

Hey. Thanks for the comments, yeah you will be able to add nebulas stations ect. However, npcs will be hardcoded into the program, but i could make a seperate npc editor if you like. :D

Im currently making the actual editor now, however, the highlighters being a pain in the arse lol. give you screenies when i get it working.

Edit: heres an idea for you guys

How about this, i build the mapeditor, and build this npc editor, then let you make your own maps with your npcs, while i make the real version?

Just to make it clear. It will be peer-to-peer as of standard internet multiplayer, right?
Only problem with that is its not really like Omri was. In multiplayer (and not MMO) the clients or just the host store all data. Which means that you have to make a system that bounces all data over to all the active clients (if not having a "host") or when the "host" quits everyone gets busted. And even in the shared data case if everyone quits all data gets lost, so you simply cannot plan ahead. No use leveling up if tomorrow everything will be reseted.

Of course you can probably try to keep your comp on and online 24/7. :)

So for that reason IMO you shouldnt care too much about trading and leveling and only make it a combat simulator. Something like chaos round.

About the equations, you can extract them from my ship calc (all ship and combat related equations are in it). Its still where it always was.

Yes, if i make it online it will be peer to peer, however, it will have a host, see ill make it like ps3 network, if the host quits, it redirects the host to someone else, anyway, i might just make it a combat sim atm, i dont know.

:!: Change of plan, had a sudden inspriation. Same General idea, however, more of a storyline, a starfleet rebellion, for you paul :wink: , like the marquis in Startrek voyager. Start with a little clipper, get allies, work your way up, better ships, more supports, more terriority, get federation spacr :twisted: inputting new data as i type

lol so instead of 1 system with afew Trek targets your gonna have the whole game full of it ?

Well its your game, but remember that ST is copyrighted (Tho it can be used for freeware stuff, aslong as no actual money is made off it). Last thing you want is those money grabbing F----rs after ya
