Omricon Returns In DBpro

I have recently started to remake omricon in darkBASIC pro. It will be an offline version unfortuantly, but hopefully future updates may fix that. I have decided that most of the Features will be the same, but since its offline i will not include Turns. Outposts WILL be implemented and i have already started work on that (Although if you buy one thing, it buys everything else! lol :P ) And I dont think i will be able to implement Waypoints. The Galaxy will be considerably smaller and it wont be as nicly laid out untill i finish the engine. Once I have a basic outline of the game, i will compile and post here for you to try out:D

Also Ill try and keep the origional Equations, ships, weapons and Upgrades!

Oh yeah and.... Ive decided that if its gonna be offline, itll need some Non Player Enemies? So to keep it simular to Omricon, ive decided to use Profiles so that they act like REAL players, if you'd like to be in it, send me a detailed desciption of how you play, like what ship kind you prefer to use, how you make money, and if you want to be activly hunting or trying to raid peoples outposts:D (Thank God Noels gone, id have to implement a mailbox feature:Dlol)

But whats the use? Omri was an online game so offline it is just pointless IMO.

Of course you will still practice your programming skills so its not useless at least. :)

If he wants to do it then so be it, at least the end result should be interesting and you get to make your own game :D

Thanks for the feedback, paul and invented, even though inverteds was kinda putting the idea down, its still helpful, And i dont know, i may make it online if i get the engine working properly, Got Shields and armour working today. well, they dont do much yet but they are working

Update:

Movement Between sectors is now working :D
EXP gain is now working when you move sectors :D
Most of the stats are displayed that are needed :) Apart from Cargo, which is gonna be a bit tricky :cry:

Will post screenshot when i implement stations

I might ask dziku if i get problems, However i dont think it will be of much use as Omricon used php however Dbpro if completly different, i remember jezus saying that it took him 50 lines just to show the shields, whereas dbpro takes 1 line. Also my main problem is that after every loop the engine is forgetting that im in the ship shop, and its just printing "Press U to Undock" lol

Still need to do a few things before i can provide some screen shots, But now at least movement between sectors is working properly, though i havent told it to reduce fuel yet. Jump gates are now working properly and after i have fixed the stations problem , i plan to start implementing outposts (i hope i survive)

I can now change ships!!
Yesterday I bought a Frigate (Yes ive decided to use the origional ships)
Docking is now working due to a new system. Might post screenies today although it will problaby be tomorrow, next i will be working on the upgrades system before moving onto weapons, then i will be working on the outposts, hopefully. Although i dont know weather i should start on cargo first :(

Are you gonna use the same Upgrades and Weapons as omri aswell ?, if so then we can remake our favourite ships :twisted: . I could test the "Cerberus" anti thruster ship aswell and afew other designs i never really played with :P 8)

and yea... i to wouldn't mind testing out some other ships that i never got to use... should have the pieces of paper with the designs on somewhere :P

I will be using some of the old upgrades,weapons,ships, but if there are any requests then they can easily be included.

Yesterday i made major progress, then it decided that it wouldnt save :@, lol

I had the station glitch fixed,but thats easy, fuel was working, and upgrades were implemented, will work tonight on it, also i was wondering if anybody would be interested in skins for the game, (And other visual aids) And would you like the ability to load your own?

Ive made some decisions about omricon.

Found new plugin for DBpro that may allow for online play.

However, i wish to get the offline beta working first

Nice, ill dig out the old designs i made myself but i wont give out designs made by anyone else that i have . Only my own work will be sent unless the player who made the original gives permission ( This includes the Multiple use Thruster designs that could raid and destroy ships )

yo, my comment time :twisted: i think since this will probably not be as big as omricon, in general size and active/registered players, make some new NPC, some JACKED up, some swarms, and just some starting ships. Probalbly have a bigger overall radar area, 4x4 rather than 3x3, but lower performance as distance inccreased (if possible). Through in some twists and turns and such, nothing major, just more ships, NPC, better and more easily managed outpost system ect. As far as upgrades go... have fun, thats a lot of stuff to get down :lol: .

Personal preference here too, umm can you make the money making and experience gaining a little faster?
