Ive just tried it being a bit bored and though Id share it with you. Its quite Omricon-ish, except it is somewhat graphical (you see sectors on screen, move by clicking on destination). Still completely browser based but I suspect it can be a bit laggy if you have a slow connection.
Ok, so same things: moving, sectors, ships, fighting, resource collecting, trading, etc. So its effectively the same 2D space browser game. Except that everything is a bit more simple than it was in Omricon. I especially disappointed by shipbuilding that is simply "better things cost more". Really, no brain needed for that. Trading is tedious as always.
Different: it is a lot more RPG-like than Omricon was, which means you have individual pilot skills for different tasks that you can rise by doing that task (For example energy collecting skill increases by? Yes! Collecting energy!). This RPGish thing also means that the game has no resets or rounds or anything. Old players are ahead of you, you cant help it. You also need exp to get better ships and equips (or faction reputation for faction stuff) that you gain from completing missions or killing things. There are a lot of NPCs to kill, dont worry.
Another main difference is that the economy is almost completely run by players. You can build facilities if you have enough exp (and money) and the game has a reasonable production chain too. On the end mostly planets and bases - that are non-player run - eat up the products. (though some bases are player run)
Oh, and the combat is very simple. One round is "you shoot - enemy shoots back". Starting ships have one or two gun mounts.
Of course a lot more thing are different too, but check for yourself if youre interested.
Just some tips so you wont do the same stupid things I did:
When starting choosing Rashkir for your race could seem tempting since they get combat skill bonuses and in total more startup bonuses than any other race, but the catch is that combat skills are by far the easiest to build up.
Also the magnetic scoop equip looks nice giving you 150 more cargo hold (starting ship has around 35) but if you fill it your movement cost will be 5x the base so it doesnt really worth it.
When picking cargo run missions check the galaxy map (link on the forums, what the heck, here) and keep in mind that 5000 turns only seem much, in reality is not when youre travelling, you better not take any mission more than 5-6 sectors away unless you can get a lot to that place.
Also dont get disappointed by the real shitty trading opportunities in startup sectors. My advice is to simply get out of those asap.
And dont get too seriously advices from someone who only played the game for like 3 days, instead ask the vet players.
